“How can Tyrell and I put into a short sentence what that weekend meant to him. You can tell by the pictures, he is free, he is happy, he is himself…..there is no other time that I can say those three statements together. This power of being together with a group of young adults who all ‘get each other’, support one another, and accept one another – it is pure joy.”
Last weekend we hosted our teen group for their first Camp Kirk Community Weekend. The majority of our teens have been with us for many years, and it was amazing to see them reconnect in a new setting and season. It’s good to have camp back!
Our new program brings groups of 20 neurodiverse kids and youth together three weekends a year, strengthening the connections our campers have to one another and providing our families with respite.
Check out our slideshow from the weekend for photos of the fun we had:
Do you know a neurodiverse child that could benefit from the Camp Kirk Community?
