We’re excited to announce that earlier this fall we’re piloting a brand new program- CK Community Weekends!
It has been a long-time dream for Camp Kirk to offer year-round programming. Throughout the years, our camper families have voiced the need for touch-points with the Camp Kirk community during what is often a very rocky school year. This new program will provide just that- a source of connection, confidence and community year-round for our kids and youth!
What are CK Community Weekends?
Geared to both first-time and returning campers, this new program brings groups of 20 neurodiverse kids and youth together for three touch-points throughout the school year. Groups meet for a weekend of outdoor adventure programming in the fall, winter, and spring, giving campers an opportunity to develop and grow their skills, confidence, and relationships.
For the 2021-2022 school year, we are piloting the program with 2 groups of 20 campers (serving 40 kids and youth in total). In the future, we hope to expand the number of groups we host per year.
Fall 2021- A Success!
In October, we hosted our very first Community Weekend, and it was a huge success! The facilities were new, the weather was chillier, but the heart and soul of Camp Kirk was certainly alive. The kids and staff left Sunday evening both joyous and exhausted, and excited for their next weekend in the winter.
“The return of Camp Kirk couldn’t have been sweeter! The start of the school year has been tough, and our whole family was in need of a break. The Community Weekend was just perfect- Chloe returned with her chin held high, and we got a bit of much-need respite as parents. Being an autism family is wonderful, but exhausting- thanks for being part of our support system Camp Kirk <3”
Do you know a neurodiverse child that could benefit from the Camp Kirk Community?
