Camp Kirk Home

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few questions New Campers ask us most often

Where Will I Sleep?

You will share a cabin with 5 other cabin mates.

You will each have your own bed (not bunk beds) and your own place to keep your clothes and personal belongings.

What If I'm Homesick?

It is quite normal to feel nervous about going away to camp and it is very normal to feel homesick. Hopefully, talking with your parents about camp, meeting the Camp Director at your house, seeing pictures, and visiting the camp at our "Open House" will help you prepare for camp so you won’t be homesick.

But if you are, all you have to do is speak to your Counsellors and let them know you are homesick and they will do everything possible to make you feel better.

They are champions. In most cases keeping busy, making a new friend and speaking with your Counsellors is all you need to do and before you know it, you will be fine.

What About My Medication?

Many of our campers take medication and we have a staff member who is responsible to make sure that you get your medication at the right time every day. We keep your medication safely in our infirmary.

What If I Wet My Bed Or I Have Accidents In The Day?

First of all, you need to know that there are many kids that have accidents and you are not alone. Secondly, our staff is excellent and will take good care of you and will assist you in any way they can.

If you wear pull-ups or other kinds of protection, that’s okay- many of our campers do. We have an infirmary with a washroom and shower/bath where you can have privacy to change.

Thirdly, teasing about bedwetting or anything else is not tolerated at all at Camp Kirk, so you don’t have to worry about that. We like you just the way you are.

How Is The Food At Camp?

Our kitchen staff is awesome and you will love the food at Camp Kirk.

All the meals are prepared in our own kitchen and everything is made fresh every day. If you have a special diet, your parents will let us know and we will make sure to follow their instructions.

What If I Wake Up In The Middle Of The Night And I'm Scared?

Two things. There is a staff cabin right next to yours. We also have two staff members who are up all night from midnight until 6:00 in the morning.

We call them "Night Watch" and they go around the entire camp all night and check in on every camper. If you wake-up they will be there to take care of you.

Can My Parents Email Me When I'm At Camp?

Yes they can, and if you ask your counsellors, you can email them back during a "free time" period.

Can I Bring My Cell Phone Or My iPod To Camp?

Sorry my friend, but at Camp Kirk, that's a no no. You know what? You will be so busy having fun and playing with your friends, that you won't even miss your cell phone, your iPod or any other electronic games.

Besides, those are expensive and we wouldn't want anything to happen to them while you're at camp.
